The prosecution stated that on November 11, 2024, the accused gathered at Parliamentary Avenue, causing disruption and inconvenience by holding an unauthorized demonstration in the road while displaying placards and banners opposing the oil pipeline. The protest caused a standstill in traffic and disrupted work in the area.
The prosecution led by Jean Nareeba informed Court that the police are through with investigations and a date should be set for them to start the trial.
Mabirizi made the application early this week when he appeared before the Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate, Sanula Nambozo, where he is battling charges of offensive communication instituted by Robert Rutaro by way of private prosecution.
The State Prosecutors also accuse the suspects of having applied a verification stamp on a weighing scale belonging to Kamoga claiming it had been tested and passed as fit for trade by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards Inspector whereas not.
Court presided over by the Grade One Magistrate Sanula Nambozo has granted bail to Zahara Luyirika the KCCA Speaker, Winnie Nansubuga, Rose Kigozi and Fausta Bitaano who have been on remand at Kigo Prison on grounds that they are mothers with children to look after, and some of them are breastfeeding.
