On Wednesday, Denis Kahabura, the Kibaale Senior Registrar of Land Title; Baker Mugaino (the Commissioner of Land Registration), and Yasin Bogezi Swal (Senior Government Valuer) were faulted for negligence leading to the loss of taxpayers' money.
Legislators on the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises – COSASE accuse the proprietor of Cofa Limited of possible conspiracy with Lubega & Buzibira Company Advocates in the fraudulent compensation claim.
On Tuesday, three witnesses including Peter Amara, Namuli's son-in-law, Kyle Lubega, and Richard Bizibira from Lubega & Buzibira Company Advocates, the city law firm that acted on behalf of the claimant gave parallel testimonies while appearing jointly before the MPs.
This follows Namuli’s statement denying receipt of such compensation from the government. She also refuted claims linking her as a legitimate granddaughter and the administrator of the Late Antwane Kalete to whom the compensation was paid in lieu.
It is alleged that on March 18, 2015, the law firm forged the signature of then Masindi High Court Judge, Justice Ralph Ochan, and issued fake letters of administration of the property and credits of the estate of the Late Antwane Kalete.
