According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, “The bus was following the Toyota Hiace towards Gulu when the front tire of the bus detached and struck the Hiace.”
The bus then lost control and collided head-on with the oncoming Isuzu Elf, resulting in two fatalities and twelve injuries among the passengers.
Initially, four individuals, including three adult males and one juvenile male, were pronounced dead at the scene. Eight others sustained severe injuries. However, two more victims have succumbed to their injuries, raising the total fatalities to six.
The collision involved three vehicles: an Iveco trailer (Reg. No. SSD 797A/SSD 323), a Toyota Hiace commuter taxi (Reg. No. UBQ 356F), and a Toyota Premio (Reg. No. UAX 554L).
The impact caused the taxi to roll and subsequently strike the oncoming Premio from the Kampala side, resulting in serious injuries and fatalities.

Upon reaching Kakondi village, the driver struck the motorcycle, which was crossing the road.
