In a speech read by the Vice President, Edward Ssekandi at the function of opening the New Law Year at High Court in Kampala, Museveni said that government spends a lot of funds looking after people who have been illegally evicted.
The commission headed by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, will over the next one week review the effectiveness of law, policies and processes of land acquisition, land administration, land management and land registration in the sub-region.
Steven Kalema, a resident of Nakatete village in Kikyusa Sub County told Justice Bamugemereire that he bought 120 acres of land at block 442, plot 11 and 14 during the 1990s. He added that while he was away, in United Kingdom, another person Edwin Lubwama emerged and acquired the same piece of land and subdivided it into four pieces.
Edirisa Ssempaka and his sister Mariam Night Nansubuga, both residents of Luzzi Zone in Wobulenzi town council were arrested for allegedly trespassing on a 13 acre piece of land they inherited from their father.
