The Bugoma forest boundary line has been a source of contention between NFA and Veterans under Tulipona Veterans Association after the latter encroached on part of the forest in Nyairongo village Kabwoya Sub County, in 2012.
National Forestry Authority-NFA is considering extending the deadline for the eviction of forest reserve encroachers in Kibaale district to January next year after failing to push them out today. In May this year, NFA and Kibaale district officials set Monday August 26th as deadline for over 15000 encroachers on all 15 central forest reserve to vacate.
Forest authorities in Kibaale are divided over operations to flush out encroachers from central forest reserves in the district. The disagreement is between the Kibaale district forest officer Wilson Kyamuhondire and the National Forestry Authority-NFA team led by the Kagadi Sector Manager, Bruno Amanyi.
Residents of Chakulia village, Ludara Sub-County in Koboko district, whom the National Forest Authority [NFA] gave an ultimatum of February 27, 2012 to vacate Mt. Kei Forest Reserve, have threatened to petition President Yoweri Museveni over the decision.
