Police have arrested the Isingiro district chairperson Jeremiah Kamurali on charges of inciting violence. According to Ivan Nuwamanya, the Rwizi regional police commander, Kamurali is wanted for inciting people to attack refugees in Nakivale refugee camp and grab part of the land that they occupy.
Essau Beyendera, the assistant Nakivale settlement camp commandant, says security agents and political leaders at different levels have grabbed over 400 hectares of land out of the 71.3square miles of Nakivale settlement camp land.
Over 700 squatters on the Nakivale refugee land in Isingiro district have once again secured a temporary court injunction blocking Government from evicting them. Mbarara High Court Judge Andrew Bashaija has extended the interim order to June 7, 2012.
