The Masaka Senior Resident Judge Lawrence Tweyanze, has granted the application by the Attorney General that sought permission to proceed with acquiring land for the demarcated pipeline route, from 81 people who protested the evaluation and eventually the compensation fees allocated to them for their properties.
The government through the Attorney General sued the Project Affected Persons, accusing them of declining to receive the compensation fees allocated to them during the property evaluation process, which threatens the implementation of the pipeline project.
Cosma Yiga, one of the Project Affected Persons-PAPs notes that despite the reevaluation exercise in which they were given a 34 percent increment on the initial compensation rates, they are still discontented and unwilling to forfeit their properties to the project.
