Dr. Nelson Naisye, the Buliisa District Health Officer-DHO, says the hospital lacks essential medicines such as anti-malaria drugs, antibiotics, vaccines and medical supplies such as syringes, gloves, catheters and gauze among others.
In his August 6th, 2019 letter to Peter Mukobi, the Director Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, Kisembo wants the team to establish circumstances, under which an Asian businessman set up a private pharmacy on the hospital premises.
Despite being the main hospital in Butaleja District, it also handles patients from other districts, including Tororo, Namutumba, Kibuuku and Budaka. The health facility lacks an Ambulance, water, an X-Ray machine among others.
