The seven were killed at Hohwa-Kaseeta in Kabwoya Sub County on Wednesday evening when a tipper Registration number UAU 684C loaded with bricks and 16 people on board veered off the road and overturned several times killing seven people on the spot.
The Fatal Accident involving a tipper Lorry registration Number UAU 684C loaded with bricks and other people on top occurred at 5pm on Wednesday at Kyejonjo Village Kaseeta Parish Kabwoya sub county Kikuube district.
The deceased include Joel Kalulu, 14, Bushra Lyaga,13, Musa Bakumbaine,16, Joel Emunet,22, Simon Wandera,25, Brian Okumu,18, Kiiza Ouma,15, Bridget Nasanga,20 and Stella Agasa, 10. The accident left nine other people injured.
One of the Prison Warders, Peter Okello, says the accident occurred when the tipper truck registration number UAD 017L they were traveling in lost control at Lwala village along Kaberamaido-Soroti road and overturned.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertain Region Police Spokesperson, identified the deceased officer as Corporal Francis Onekalit, a sniffer dog handler and the injured is Sam Murura. According to Hakiza, Onekalit died on spot while Murura sustained broken limbs and is currently admitted at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.
Four people died on spot in an accident that occurred yesterday at Kiborogota, 13 kms from Rukungiri along Rukungiri- Ntungamo road at around 2:00 pm on Friday afternoon. A fifth person died shortly after reaching hospital. Among the injured is Rubabo Woman Member of Parliament, Hon Paula Turahikayo.
