National Planning Authority Executive Director Dr Joseph Muvawala says as it stands now, Ugandans do not have the capacity to work in the oil sector and harness the opportunities that come with the production of oil.
A salient feature of the guidelines is that for instance after national planning authority publish its five year national development plan, local governments, ministries, departments will be required to also produce plans aligned to the national plan within six months. The plans will have to be certified by the national planning authority.

Residents from four sub counties in Kibaale district have today petitioned parliament over land eviction that has left 1,300 families displaced. The families were last year evicted from the land bordering Kagombe Forest Reserve by the National Forestry Authority NFA claiming they had encroached on the forest.

A 50 kilogram bag of fertilizers now costs 140,000 up from 110,000 Shillings, a hike that has affected Nitrogen Phosphate Potassium -NPK and Diammonium Phosphate-DAP fertilizers over the last two months. A trip of organic fertilizers has also increased from 40,000 to 65,000 Shillings.
Last year, Bundibugyo District health department embarked on the formation of nutrition committees at sub county level to combat malnutrition in the community. The committees were tasked to work together with village authorities to ensure that all households are food secure and properly feeding their children.
