Some of them were found to operating businesses and working without work permit, and illegal entry into Uganda without required minimum travelling documents like passport. Eight of those arrested were Asian nationals and 5 Pakistanis citizens.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) has passed a Motion for a Resolution pushing for the elimination of work permit fees for citizens of the region as a way of enhancing free movement of workers.
