According to Tibemanya, four people succumbed to various illnesses at the hospital in 2018 without any of their relatives appearing by their sickbeds. Their remains were buried in Gulu Municipal Public Cemetery.
Currently, the mortuary is struggling to keep four bodies which remain unclaimed since April. Paul Ajur, the Senior Hospital Administrator says they are under pressure to hand over the unclaimed bodies to Gulu Municipal Council for burial in the Municipal Cemetery to create room for other bodies.
The fund says the operation of the center will be handed over to the control and funding of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital. The center manufactures and repairs artificial prosthetic limbs for amputated victims of the Lords Resistance Army-LRA conflict in Northern Uganda
The vital medical kit has been lacking in many health facilities including Gulu Hospital where some 30 children and 400 adults are being treated for the silent killer diabetes.
Gulu Regional Referral Hospital has halted all scheduled surgeries on patients because the hospital\'s blood bank has run dry. The blood shortage has already claimed the lives of two children who died last week because the facility failed to secure enough blood for transfusion to save their lives.
