OPM Refunds UGX 14.2 Billion Irish Aid Money

The Uganda government has returned 4 million Euros of Irish Aid funds which had been diverted without authorisation by personnel in the Office of the Prime Minister, The Irish Times online has reported. Ireland has, however, announced that the suspension of its bilateral aid to Uganda will remain in place until officials are confident controls have been put in place to prevent another misappropriation of funds.

Kazinda Trial Flops Again Over Ill-health

The much anticipated corruption trial of suspended Principal Accountant in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Geoffrey Kazinda, failed to take off on Monday. Kazinda, who was arrested in July last year, was reportedly ill suffering from a soft neck condition at Luzira Prison and could not stand in the dock.

PRDP Money Disbursed Despite Donors Protest, Says OPM Official dfid

Gonzaga Mayanja, the Commissioner in charge PRDP in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) says money for carrying out the project activities in the forty districts of north and eastern Uganda has been disbursed despite withdrawal of funds by donor countries.
