Tororo Archdiocese are the leaders of this years June 3rd Martyrs Day celebrations at the Catholic shrine in remembrance 45 converts who were killed on orders of Kabaka Mwanga Basamulekere of Buganda 1885 and 1887.
Dr Emmanuel Obbo, who has been Bishop of Soroti Catholic diocese for six years, was on January 2 appointed new archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese. Tororo Archdiocese consists of Dioceses of Soroti, Tororo, Jinja, Moroto and Kotido.
Pope Francis has appointed the Bishop of Soroti, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Obbo, as the new Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese. Archbishop Obbo, 61, is to replace His Grace Joseph Kiwanuka Lote whose retirement has been accepted by the Pope upon reaching the age of 75.
A catholic priest in Tororo Archdiocese is currently locked up in a bitter row with one of the donors over the ownership of a church-funded project worth billions of shillings. The project, which was founded by Fr. Joseph Kichama, boasts of a health centre, a girlsâ€™ secondary school, a grinding mill, a nursery school and bore holes.
