Expired goods such as salt, sugar, baking flour, eggs, cooking oil, wheat flour, maize flour and beverages are among the over 1,200 tons of garbage disposed of the landfill each month but somehow find their way back into retail and wholesale shops and supermarkets for sale.
The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) says they have so far withheld 140 metric tons of Maize Grain from suppliers for failing to meet quality standards.
