According to police and the district leaders, the abandoned children are usually newborn babies and those under 5 years.

Vincent Kwizera, a board member of Tooro Babies Home blames their financial woes on local governments in the region. He explains that the home is supposed to be funded jointly by all the local governments in the region, but to date no district has fulfilled its pledge to contribute money to the running of the home.

Nagawa says that they have collected more than 200 children since September last year.
