Veteran journalist, Justus Muhanguzi Kampe, yesterday launched his book titled Eyes of a Journalist, an eyewitness account of the 1990-1994 war--and genocide--in Rwanda. Muhanguzi however says he lives in fear because the publication has angered officials at the Rwanda embassy in Kampala. It is for this reason, according to Muhanguzi, that the book launch had been abruptly called off in April.
Rwanda High Commissioner to Uganda, Major-General Frank Mugambage, has asked peace lovers across the globe to join Rwanda in fighting against genocide ideology. On the 23rd anniversary of the start of the 1994 genocide, Ambassador Mugambage addressed the media in Kampala and noted that the country commemorates 1994 genocide against Tutsi annually mindful that genocide ideology must be fought.
The Resolution moved Kenyan legislator AbuBakr Ogle was unanimously supported by Members, giving the EALA Commission a go-ahead to nominate seven persons to review the security impact of genocide ideology and Genocide denial on the East African Community.
The affected residents claim that during the Rwandan war, Ugandan soldiers camped in Karujanga and Kibuga parishes in Rubaya Sub County and took over their fish ponds, feasted on their animals and used their trees.
