The two reportedly mobilized a mob that lynched Julius Kugonza 25, a resident of Kyamugoba LCI, Bubogo parish in Kyangwali sub-county accusing him of stealing maize.

Currently, a kilogram of broken maize costs 1800-2000 whereas maize bran costs Shillings 1200 from Shillings 400. The prices increased due to drought that affected maize harvest.

The targets were set in line with the objectives of the Agriculture Cluster Development Project which intends to raise on-farm productivity, production, and marketable volumes of maize, beans, rice, cassava, and coffee.

Farmers in Mbarara district have embraced the use of organic manure produced from the municipalitys dumpsite at Kekombe. A medium sized lorry of manure goes for 80,000 shillings while a big lorry goes for shillings 100,000 shillings.

Dr Georg Goergen, an Entomologist with Biological Control Centre for Africa and International Institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA confirmed in an email that the fall army worm is already in Burundi.
