Army Redeploys Capt. Asiimwe To Northern Uganda 1

Captain Moses Asiimwe, the UPDF officer who was last month arrested in Somalia, has now been redeployed to 4th Division in Gulu district. Asiimwe was arrested and sent back to Uganda after he allegedly questioned Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s rapid promotions. Muhoozi is President Yoweri Museveni’s son and commander of Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite force within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

MPs Condemn Police Raid On Media Houses 3

Members of Parliament under their umbrella organization, Friends of the Media, say they are surprised and dismayed by the police raid on the Daily Monitor and Red Pepper offices. The two media houses were raided by armed police earlier today in what a spokesperson called a search to get documents related to a letter written by General David Sejusa, the Coordinator of Intelligence Services.

Police have secured a court order compelling The Monitor Publications to hand over a copy of the letter authored by General David Sejusa to the Director General of Internal Security Organisation – ISO. On May 7, Daily Monitor published a story based on an April 29 letter allegedly written by General Sejusa, commonly known as Tinyefuza, in which the decorated army officer asks ISO to investigate allegations that some government and military officers are targeted for elimination for opposing the so-called “Muhoozi Project.”
