In his application, Mpejje argued that the Directorate of Public Prosecution-DPP instituted the charges against his client in bad faith arguing that the charges date way back in 2014 when Munyagwa hadn’t yet joined parliament.
In April 2017, Munyagwa was sent to Luzira maximum security prison where he spent two nights for alleged failure to pay back Shillings 100M he owed John Baptist Maali.

The defendants\' lawyers told the grade two chief Magistrates court that their clients had been blocked by police as they left their homes in Kampala. They requested that the case be adjourned to the 11th of November 2013 when their clients will be able to appear in court.
Munyagwa told our reporter that the he was arrested last evening by police officers who intercepted his car and whisked him off to Special investigations unit Kireka where he was allegedly tortured. Munyagwa said that today morning he was driven to Kabale but did not know that that he was supposed to appear in court up to when he arrived in Kabale.
