The Albertine region police spokesperson, Julius Allan Hakiza on Friday told Uganda Radio Network that the incident happened on Thursday Evening at around 6pm, when a group allegedly opposed to the resettlement exercise stormed the new resettlement site attacked and burnt five grass thatched houses belonging to those who accepted to be relocated.
There is chaos around parliament areas as police battles different groups of protestors opposed to the presidential age limit removal. Inside Parliament premises, police has heavily deployed with a number of arrests carried out. Visitors have also been prohibited from accessing the parliament building today.
The force has a total of 48,000 officers and troops deployed in the various directorates and units. Each officer has a file in Human Resource Administration which has details of the academic qualifications and career courses as well work experience. A source within the Police top management however told URN that the files usually catch dust in the store room and are never used during promotion or deployment processes.
Taban Chiriga, the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Officer in Rakai, also the chief investigator in the Pastor Steven Mugambe murder case of nine family members, has been transferred. Uganda Radio Network (URN) has learnt of Chiriga\'s transfer to the CID Headquarters in Naguru from fellow detectives.
The Town clerk is accused of misallocating UGX 283 million meant for road construction in the Municipality, selling off a municipal council plot located at Jackson road in Kabale municipality without the knowledge of council and diverting a bank loan worth 300million which was expected to be used in the construction of the main council building.
The Police have deployed heavily to curb any violence that may erupt during polling day this Wednesday. Currently the deployments are heavy in the areas of Kabasanda junction, Kibibi where the Police station is located and some police trucks moving round the five sub counties.
