Fort Portal municipality was in the past year overwhelmed with scandals involving the illegal sale of council land, failure to account for local revenues and illegal award of tenders. Five titles of major properties belonging to Fort Portal Municipality went missing under unclear circumstances.
Records gathered by the Kabarole district registrar from 45 polling stations in Fort Portal Municipality by 3pm indicated that 11,500 voters had so far cast their votes. There are 65 polling stations in the municipality.

Some of the activities that have stalled yet they had been budgeted for in the 2014/2015 financial year projects include the installation of street lights and electricity at the waste recycling plant, maintenance of roads and opening of access roads in the three municipal divisions South, East and West, replacing and painting of all pavements along the streets.
The Fort Portal municipality leadership led by the mayor Asaba Edison Ruyonga has been meeting local leaders from the sub county with a view of convincing them to accept to be part of the municipality.
