The money was collected from St. Balikuddembe Park yard vendors, Kikuubo trading center, Ravens Hotel at Kisekka Market, and Nakivubo stadium which was a central point for all traders from Kampala arcades and well-wishers.
The fundraising campaign for reconstruction of Kasubi Royal Tombs has met poor reception in Nakasongola over the bickering between Buganda Kingdom and Buruuli Chiefdom. Nakaseke and Luweero districts that form Bulemeezi County contributed 84 million shillings whereas Nakasongola which is in Buruuli County contributed only 1.1 million shillings.
The Bukomansimbi County Member of Parliament (MP) Deogratius Kiyingi has been suspended from the Buganda Parliamentary caucus. The suspension is due to statements MP Kiyingi is alleged to have made that questioned the financing of the reconstruction of Kasubi Royal Tombs.
Originally the Kasubi tombs were under the Kingdom but now the ownership is under three partners, Kingdom, Government and UNESCO. Kasubi being a place with several stakeholders notable of them being Buganda Kingdom, Government of Uganda and UNESCO, all the three were supposed to be brought under a common agreement on how the restoration was supposed to be done.
