The Electoral Commission EC has set April 12, 2017 as voting day for the Member of Parliament for Kamuli Municipality in Kamuli district. The seat fell vacant on February 14th when the Court of Appeal nullified the election of Rehema Watongola over the authenticity of her academic documents. This is after the Forum for Democratic Change FDC candidate Salaamu Musumba challenged Watongolas election.
Speaking during the hand over to the incoming UBC board chairperson Simon Kaheru this afternoon, Nabeta said UBC has inherent problems since it is a government institution, where certain procedures must be followed.
Alex Komuhangi, the Luweero district registrar confirms that the delivery was inadequate but adds that efforts are being made to send more ballot papers to the affected stations in order to ensure that voting for female councilors eventually takes place.

Engineer Badru Kiggundu, EC chairman told a media briefing before announcing the third round of partial results from the presidential election that the EC has received information that some political parties have released results which is illegal.
The results are trickling in after several polling stations in the district started voting late. In places voting even started at 3:00 pm, like in Ssisa Sub-county. The Returning Officer, Sarah Bukira, has been announcing the provisional results as they come.
