Odomaro Mucunguzi, a resident of Nyarungwe village in Kaharo parish, died on Sunday, two weeks after his release from Ndorwa Government Prison, where he served a five year jail term for murder. Mucunguzi had been convicted for the murder of an area resident only identified as Karama, with whom they had a land dispute in 2012.
Police in Kabale are holding an 80-year-old man for allegedly spearing his son to death over land disputes. Charles Katarakwenda, a resident of Nyakiharo cell, Mwanjari ward, Southern Division in Kabale Municipality, is alleged to have speared Andrew Ndyareeba who was aged 42.
According to Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the family members had issues with their father relating to family land. They however did not report the deceasedâ€™s disappearance to the local authorities or the police.
She is currently admitted at Kabale regional referral hospital and receiving treatment for injuries she suffered during the assault. Hanifa Agaba was attacked by her husband Sheik Ahmed Bujara and his two sons from an earlier marriage.
Kabale district and Kabale University are in the midst of a struggle for a 98 acre piece of land. The district had promised to donate the land to the university once it went public. However, now the district has invited tenants to use the land for farming.
