Ayub Kawanguzi, a resident in the area who was found harvesting the groundnuts says that he works with his four children to collectively make big harvests on a daily basis and the farm owner pays him their joint average earning of 12,000 Shillings per day.
The farm, owned by a group of 30 youths, had 21,000 pieces of mudfish species and 30,000 pieces of tilapia fish species, which were slated for harvest on Monday next week. Emmanuel Mbusa, an employee at the farm says that he noticed fish floating on the ponds on Thursday morning and later learnt that all the fish had been killed.
According to the residents, the latest incidents occurred on Monday last week and Tuesday night where the cows destroyed several acres of their crops. This prompted the residents to impound over 200 head of cattle and held them at Kavule primary school playground insisting that Kalangwa compensates them for the damage.
"Dirimunsawo normally returns home around 7:00 am but by 8:00 am he hadn't returned. So we decided to mount a search for him and managed to recover his hat and coat flowing across the swamp," he says.
