The Public Accounts Committee PAC is mandated to examine the audited accounts by the Auditor General showing the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet the expenditure of the central government and judiciary.
The accusations against Burahya County MP Margaret Muhanga stem from a transaction from which she acquired 23.1 acres of land from Uganda Broadcasting Corporation UBC at a cost of 10.2 billion Shillings. The land in question is located in Bugolobi, a suburb of Kampala.
Of the 92.5billion shillings, 17.5billion is to be borrowed from the Arab Bank for Economic Development, 37.5billion from the OPEC Fund for Economic Development and another 37.5billion from the Saudi Fund for Development.
However, before approving the requesting that was contained in the harmonized report of the National Economy committee chaired by Xavier Kyooma, the legislators cautioned government against borrowing issues that can be planned and budgeted for.
