The protest tagged ‘End police brutality in Uganda’ was started on Tuesday evening by a 25 year –old man identified as Render Namanya, a resident of Kampala. It is an online protest on twitter.
Two senior police officers who were side-stepped in the recent appointment of police spokesperson Emilian Kayima have finally handed over their offices as they await new deployment. The two officers include Commissioner of Police CP Fred Enanga who has been working as part of the administration team Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Polly Namaye.
Fred Enanga, the Police spokesman told URN on Friday that although the FA were the whistle blowers, they have not been helpful in availing information to the Police.
The government through the Ministry of Internal Affairs has appointed a task team to investigate the alleged death threat towards star athlete Moses Ndiema Kipsiro.
Police had felt that with the nature of her job, Kagezi needed protection, but she out rightly declined the advice on ground that her life was not under threat."
Fred Enanga, speaking to URN in a phone interview today confirmed that the police had obtained vital information that helped them identify the details of the suspect and his aliases. He also added that they are in �advanced stages\' of arresting the suspect
The target is to have police booths with adequate manpower emphasized in the area where there are major crime challenges due to the changing trends of crime, said Enanga.
