According to Dr Tumukwasibwe, the focus of opposition-led accountability committees is Anti-corruption that includes misuse, diversion, embezzlement of public funds; stealing of public assets; nepotism in the recruitment of public servants and award of tenders and others.

Shortly after announcing the appointments, General Mugisha Muntu, the FDC party president, said they had decided to appoint independent legislators as the various committee vice chairpersons as a unifying gesture.

The Constitution mandates the Auditor General to audit and submit annual reports on public expenditure to Parliament.
