The National Social Security Fund, which is the biggest single local lender to the central government, says they are ready to lend to districts and cities if they are allowed by the laws to do so.
Former Mukono District Chairperson, Godfrey Kiwanuka Musisi, says the local government Ministry should reintroduce mandatory induction training for councillors. Musisi, also the former President of Uganda Local Authorities Association ULGA, says many districts are failing to deliver the needed services because newly-elected politicians are not adequately inducted to perform their duties outlined in the Local Government Act.
Ben Twahirwa, the chairperson of Uganda National Teachers Union - UNATU in Mbarara Municipality told URN that their salaries were deposited this afternoon adding that they will all resume work on Monday. The same day pupils will be sitting for their end of term examinations.
Mbarara Municipal leaders have passed a resolution that will see them work boda boda cyclists and other volunteers to report people involved in littering the town.
William Ndyanabo, the Ibanda Municipal Health Inspector, says they only authorized food vending on particular streets and restricted it to evening hours. He however, says they face a challenge of enforcement due to insufficient staff.

On Tuesday this week municipal officials poisoned up to 80 dogs for straying on the streets and around garbage skips. The move comes barely two months after authorities killed 70 dogs in Kamukuzi division.
