Kayihura told journalists at a media briefing at the police headquarters on Saturday that they have indicators on Aine whereabouts but declined to divulge details.
John Mary Mugisha, one of the lawyers representing the applicants, told court presided over by Justice Lydia Mugambe Ssali that the last time court was set to convene and hear the case, turned out to be a public holiday. February 16th was declared a public holiday to commemorate the murder of Janan Luwumu, the former Archbishop of Church of Uganda.
Speaking exclusively to Uganda Radio Network, Rwomushana said the issue of sectarianism never arose during his incarceration, insisting that the focus was on issues around the disappearance of Aine.
In his affidavit, Kabugo claims that since Aines arrest by plain clothed Police Officers on December 14, 2015, he has never been arraigned formally before courts of law and charged as the law demands. He adds that no valid reason has been given for his arrest yet efforts to trace him in all police detention centers have proved futile.
According to Mbabazi, the ongoing harassment of his supporters by state operatives is a sign of panic because of the huge support he enjoys in the countryside.
Mbabazi also cites the disappearance of Christopher Aine, the head of his security, adding that his legal team has successfully lodged a habeas corpus order with the high court for Aines production.
Aine disappeared three weeks ago after Police started hunting for him and other supporters of Mbabazi following clashes with NRM supporters in Ntungamo.
The statement comes a day after Aines lawyer Severino Twinobusingye filed a suit against Police over the illegal detention of his client at an unknown destination since December 2015. Aines family is also demanding for the release of their relative.
Police says they do not know the whereabouts of Amama Mbabazis security member, Christopher Aine. The force has promised a reward of 20 million shillings for information on his whereabouts.
Christopher Aine faces four charges of assault, obstructing police officers on duty, resisting arrest and escaping from safe custody. He denied the charges and was bailed.
