Findings from health experts in the region indicate that only 160,019 people aged 15 years and above out of the targeted 556,092 people have been tested for HIV across the region.
Lodia says some of the men could be engaged to a particular girl but end up sleeping with other girls after finding them in the same room at night. He says at least three girls in his village have reportedly contracted HIV from one person who took advantage of their communal sleeping.
Dr. Joshua Musinguzi, the head of the AIDS Control Programme, Ministry of Health, says Uganda has a long way to go as far as male circumcision as a preventive measure against HIV is concerned because currently less than 80 percent of men are circumcised.
