Elangot, who served as the Central Bank Deputy Governor between 1980 and 1989, breathed his last at International Hospital Kampala on Saturday. He was hospitalized in late September due to multiple organ complications, according to David Malinga Akol, a relative found at the Elangot’s home in Soroti.

Dr. Jackson Oryem, the Director Uganda Cancer Institute, says there are only 14 doctors at the institute, which is a very minimal number.

2,460 case of prostate cancer were registered this year alone, up from 1,824 cases registered in 2014.
