Government acquired the vast land and processed a title in 2016 to resettle people who had encroached on Kyangwali settlement land. During a visit to the area on Friday, residents informed the minister that there was another title on the same piece of land.
Wilson Tibugyendwa, the Kabale District Chief Administrative Officer says that all sorts of that mess was made by the then Chief Administrative Officer, Abert Matsiko Mutungwire who retired and went to work as the University secretary for BUSITEMA University.Tibugyenda however promises to follow up the matter for a proper action.
The Lands Department in the Office of the President says the law on landlord-tenant relationship in Buganda and Bunyoro should be revisited. Susan Abbo, Presidential Assistant on land and legal Affairs, told the commission chaired by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire that while the 1998 Land Act was supposed to resolve the conflicts between landlords and their tenants, it has instead escalated the same in Buganda.
