On Friday night, at around 9.00 pm, a 90-year-old woman was shot four times by unknown gunmen in Katanga, one of the suburbs where most killings by gun have taken place this year. Already three residents have now been killed by unknown gunmen in the area since the beginning of the year.
Emmy Kongai Louro, the LC 2 chairperson of Naitakwae and resident of Katanga cell, says that they decided to hand over Moru after a series of attacks against the community members, in which some people were gunned down.
Lokwang has asked the UPDF to increase their presence along the Uganda- Kenya border especially at Kamion and Timu, where there is limited military presence coupled with a scarce population in the area.
At the time of the incident, the two were riding a motorcycle along the Moroto-Napak road. According to the Napak Resident District Commissioner Abubaker Kaddunabbi Lubega, police in Napak is investigating how the shooting came about.
