Joseph Ssenzoga, the FDC Secretary-General for greater Masaka sub-region, says that party has not identified flag bearers. He explains that they have left the communities to elect leaders of their choice.
Their statements follow a fresh fight between the Party Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba and the Partys Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi. Squabbles between the two leaders took a new twist after the dismissal of more than 400 staff members from the party secretariat.
The meeting will be attended by members of the Central Executive Committee, NRM District Chairpersons, NRM Municipal Mayors/ flag bearers, NRM EALA MPs, members of NRM Historical Leaders Forum, members of all special organs and chairpersons of the NRM branches in the diaspora.
President Yoweri Museveni has reacted angrily to allegations that legislators solicited bribes from aspirants for the East African Legislative Assembly EALA. Museveni told NRM legislators to be very careful with what he described as money practices saying that these are very dangerous since they devalue the importance of the vote. He said that elections should mean elections but not money and lies.
Government chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa confirmed to URN in a telephone interview that 20 names were approved by CEC saying that the NRM being the majority party in parliament forms 69 of the appointments committee.
