According to the Head teacher of the school, Saidi Orikiriza, the community used to fund the operations of the school by paying 3 Million Shillings every term, but currently, they can’t even realize 200,000 Shillings.
According to statistics from the district commercial office, more than 85 of the population in Bundibugyo is directly dependent on cocoa. The crop also fetches about 150 billion shillings into the district annually.
According to Taban, the 36-year-old Birungi is wanting for hitting his 70-year-old mother, Cecilia Kabatooro with a hoe on the head at around 10am on Monday. He threatened to kill whoever attempts to rescue her.
The hospital, constructed in 1969, now accommodates more than 90 patients in its pediatric section, almost four times the capacity estimated at the time of its construction. There are more than 300 patients for a facility which was constructed to accommodate 104 patients at any given time.

The seven roomed facility comprises of offices, a laboratory, three isolation rooms each capable of admitting six patients, nursing station, clinical care area and a clinical research site. The facility has also been fenced to prevent Ebola or Marburg patients from getting into contact with the community or other patients at the hospital. .
Last year, the Christians led by Charles Kisembo, the head of laity Bumandu Archdeaconry announced plans to break away from Ruwenzori Diocese and form West Ruwenzori Diocese with its headquarters at Bumandu in Bundibugyo district. Kisembo alleged that the Bundibugyo community was marginalized under the parent Diocese.
Jolly Tibamanya, the Bundibugyo LC V Chairperson, says a team from the district has been dispatched to Humya village to assess the damage and to plan for relief supplies for some of the survivors who have sought refuge at Humya Catholic Church
Steven Baluku, the in-charge at Bubugwanga refuge transit center says 400 people have sought refuge at the center since the clashes started, adding that they expect the number of displaced persons to increase. According to Baluku, they have requested the Office of the Prime Minister and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees UNHCR to provide food and beddings to the displaced families.
The clashes were sparked off by the declaration of the National Resistance Movement NRM party candidate Ronald Mutegeki as the winner of a hotly contested LCV chairmans race between him and independent candidate Jolly Tibamanya.
This morning heavy gunfire rocked Bundibugyo town lasting up to 30 minutes. It\'s reported that unknown people threatened to attack Bundibugyo police station, but were repulsed by a combined effort of the UPDF and police. Three of the attackers have been arrested.
In 2010, Bundibugyo district embarked on the construction of three classroom blocks in two schools and one laboratory at a cost of 500 million shillings. However, construction work stopped months later after Ntoroko was granted a district status and it split from Bundibugyo.
