The Judiciary Senior Communications Officer, Solomon Muyita, says the three justices of the International Crimes Division of the High Court will deliver their judgement at 2:00pm.
A heavily guarded prison bus drove in the suspects a few minutes to 9:00am. They waved to the huge crowd outside the court premises as they were being led to the holding cells.
The trial was suspended early this month, by Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi on grounds that there were no funds to facilitate prosecution witnesses with transport, accommodation and meals.
Appearing as the fourth prosecution witness in a case in which 14 people are facing trial for masterminding attacks against senior Muslim clerics across the country, Dr Moses Byaruhanga told court that the killers were at a close range of 100cm or less.
According to an amended charge sheet, the 14 suspects and others still at large are accused of indiscriminately involving themselves in the attempted murder or attack on Ssonko Najib, Bahiga Mustapha, Umar Swadiq, Ibrahim Hassan Kirya, Mahamood Kibaate, Haruna Jemba and Omulangira Kassim Nakibinge.
High Court Judge Duncan Gaswaga confirmed the charges against the 15 after weighing evidence presented by the prosecution and found that indeed there is sufficient incriminating evidence for the suspects to stand trial.
