The Office of the Spokesperson for the United Nations (UN) Secretary General has called on security forces in Uganda to act in a manner that respects human rights and the principle of the rule of law.
The stretch from Nakawa to Namanve is heavily guarded by the Military Police, Uganda Police and Local Defense Unit personnel, mainly around Spear Motors, Kyambogo Road, Kireka Trading Centre and Bweyogerere.
The policeman only identified as Kapchebunagi, was shot on the leg. The incident happened at the basement parking opposite Parliament Avenue at about 4:00 pm.
The development comes amid controversy over the eviction of vendors from the street of Kampala. Last week, the minister in Charge of Kampala Beti Olive Kamya announced that vendors would be evicted with immediate effect, as part of the efforts to restore trade order in the city.
