On Monday, the residents planted banana suckers in potholes along the Kasiiso-Mazzi road in protest over the failure of the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to fix the damaged road.
According to municipal officials, many of these buildings have been constructed without the necessary technical oversight from Town Engineers. Some structures are being built directly on sanitary lanes and road reserves, complicating efforts to expand essential services such as sewage systems, piped water, and electricity poles.

The trio was driving in a Toyota Caldina registration number; UAG 226B when they rammed into a stationary sugarcane truck registration number; UAA 759Q in the wee hours of Sunday morning. The vehicle is reported to have overturned two times killing the trio instantly.
Their actions deterred both motorcyclists, drivers and pedestrians alike from accessing the highways. They were seen pelting all the road users who declined to obey their call of joining the protest.
According to the report, Ssentamu who was transferred to Rakai district withdrew the money in the 2018/2019 financial year but to date, the road has not been rehabilitated. He alleges that the engineer diverted the money for his gain and should be compelled to refund it.
Musisi is accused of conniving with road contractors and sub-contractors in Luuka and the neighboring districts, to illegally hire out the road equipment.
The call follows the death of their colleague, Edith Wamala, aged 70 years, who was knocked dead by a hit-and-run commuter taxi while cleaning Nalufenya West Road on Tuesday.
