Samuel Odong, the Kasese Municipality Division Police Commander has called on the members of the public to help identify the bodies and volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of the masterminds of the killings.
Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori Region Police Spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network that the PSU team will team up with officers from the Criminal Investigations Department CID in the district and conduct fresh investigations into the killing. According to Tumushabe, the case was mishandled by some junior officers, since the District CID Officer, Ibra Bashati was transferred to Kasese and is yet to be replaced. She however, didnt disclose the identities of the implicated officers.
Kabuye acted as the Scene of Crime Officer having visited the scene of crime in his house, recorded statements from more than five suspects including Kihagaras former husband and dictated at all stages of the investigations.
Asuman Kasolo Mayanja, the NRM Chairperson Kapeke sub-county, was the next morning arrested in connection with the murder. Kasolo was however released on Police bond on Wednesday from Mpigi Police Station where he had since been detained.
Police in Rakai are investigating circumstances under which a 45 year old man hacked his wife to death on Tuesday night. Police have identified the deceased as Velolanda Kanyesiga (25) a resident of Lwesambya village, Kiziba Sub County in Rakai district.
