The report signed by Paul Kato, the OC CID parliamentary police was sent to Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga on September 28. It is currently before Parliaments Rules, Discipline and Privileges committee which is investigating the matter.
The Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura has said he planned and coordinated the raid on Parliament on Wednesday in which security forces arrested 24 legislators. Kayihuras revelation comes hours after the police forensic team commenced investigations into violence and vandalism of property that unfolded inside the Chambers on Wednesday, shortly before a motion to remove presidential age limits was tabled.
The 25 MPs were suspended for alleged misconduct and disrupting parliament business a day earlier. The legislators comprising mainly of opposition members, engaged security in fights leading to the destruction of microphones and benches in the chamber.
Tourism minister Ephraim Kamuntu has condemned the fracas in which legislators exchanged blows on the floor of parliament. Parliament this afternoon degenerated into a fist-fight moments after the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga gave Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi a go-ahead to present a motion seeking for the amendment of Article 102 b of the constitution, paving way for the possible removal of presidential age limits.
