The 3.9 billion shillings construction work was initially expected to be completed within 15 months, however, an additional four months was added to allow the contractor to complete the project.
Dr. Nathan Onyachi, the Hospital's Director explained that Ministry of Health is aware of this arrangement and that it is to help in running the hospital. Adding that the money is spent on buying ingredients used for CT scan or films for x-ray machine.
Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Health Minister and Lira City Woman MP, presided over the ground-breaking ceremony and emphasized the need for the hospital to have enough land for expansion and the installation of other modern facilities. With the new lab, the hospital will conduct liver and renal function tests, Prostate surface antigen, thyroid function tests, Histopathology and other specialized tests, resulting in a standardized and elevated level of care.
