The envisaged Science and Technology University was supposed to have its pioneer class in August 2016 but it failed to admit students due to unfinished construction works. The University officials were now hoping to open the University for Admissions this January but with a new report from NCHE, its opening still hangs in balance.
A total of 4.55 billion Shillings was approved for the University during the financial year under review. However, only 2.535 billion Shillings was availed indicating a 44.3 percent cut in its development budget funding.
It is reported that after the loan application was rejected by Parliament on January 7, 2016, the Ministry of Finance amended the objective of the loan to indicate that money was urgently needed to procure medical supplies for the country. It was subsequently approved three months later.
