Minister Cheptoris says that the initial price of gas cylinders is a key hindrance to the use of gas in Uganda. He says several Ugandans who use charcoal pay between 60-100,000 Shillings, yet the same amount can be used to refill a gas cylinder. A 6-kilogram Gas Cylinder and Gas costs between 150,000 and 200,000 Shillings and is refilled at 60,000 Shillings.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) and the USAID funded Famine Early Warning System Network (FEWSNET) says the food crisis will affect Kaabong, Nakapiripirit, Moroto, Kotido and Napak. It will be triggered by below average seasonal harvests.
An order contained in a cabinet memo dated August 5, 2019, says that the president had directed all government officials in Ministries, Departments, Agencies and parastatals to fly Uganda Airlines to all destinations it would be flying to once the airline commences operations.”
