Richard Kaijuka, the chairman Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum says most investments take long enough to outlive the situation that the country is going through and that these will ebb by the time the investments mature. He expects that long term current and prospective investors will not be swayed by the statements.
Last week, foreign tourists, David Barlow and Celia Geyer were killed by ADF linked group alongside their Ugandan guide Eric Aryayi. The trio met death inside Queen Elizabeth National Park. Barlow and Geyer had just tied the knot and were on their honeymoon in Uganda when their lives tragically ended in the hands of criminals.
The ADF, known to operate from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC and in Kasese district has been accused of masterminding various terror attacks including the most recent one involving a tourist from Britain and South Africa who were killed from Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Kasolo received a life sentence, while Hassan Kisekka, Nasif Kalyango, and Shafiq Mpanga were sentenced to 30 years in prison. They joined Isaac Ssenabulya, who had earlier pleaded guilty to the counts of murder, kidnapping, and aggravated robbery.
According to Enanga, five thugs intercepted the truck around 9 p.m. enroute to Kampala and placed the driver at gunpoint. The truck was transporting 34 tons of kerosene from Kenya to the Prompet Energies Ltd depot in Kampala.
Previously, the university had three official entry and exit points: The Main, Western, and Eastern gates. However, there were at least five other smaller gates around the university that were often unmanned and lacked adequate lighting at night.
