Dr Rogers Musinguzi, the Head of COVID-19 Case management team in Masindi district, told Uganda Radio Network on Monday morning that they are arranging to transfer the two senior health officials to either Entebbe hospital or Hoima Regional Referral Hospital COVID-19 Treatment Unit.
Richard Businge, the Kitanyata 2 village chairperson, says that Abigaba was first admitted in a nearby clinic before he was transferred to Masindi Hospital when his condition worsened where he died from.
Masindi district registered its first COVID-19 case on May 1,2020 after a police detective attached to Masindi Central police station tested positive for the Coronavirus during the Rapid Assessment survey conducted by the health ministry across the country.
The decision to turn the Female ward into the COVID-19 Isolation Center comes at a time when the Minsitry of health plans to have more COVID-19 Isolation centers across the country in anticipation of more COVID-19 cases around the country.
The suspects include 331 from Masindi Police Barracks, 22 from Masindi Hospital, 43 from Masindi Public Primary School, 34 from Masindi Army Barracks and 26 from Kabalega Secondary School.
Dr. Patrick Baguma, the Acting Masindi District Health Officer-DHO, says following the confirmation of a case in the district, the Health ministry dispatched 660 COVID-19 Test kits to help them test some of the suspects more especially those at high risk.

On Saturday, a police officer attached to Masindi central police station tested positive to COVID-19 during the ongoing health ministry community survey. He has since been transferred to Hoima Regional Referral hospital COVID-19 Treatment Unit.
The Masindi patient is one of the two people who tested positive to COVID-19 on Saturday bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 85 in the country. The other patient who tested positive is a 35-year old Kenyan male driver who entered the country through the Busia border.
Speaking to Uganda Radio Network on Monday Evening in his office, Dr. Katusiime the medical superintendent Masindi Hospital says is it now a week since the shortage hit the facility.
Dr. John Turyagauraka, the Masindi district Health officer told Uganda Radio Network on Friday evening that the blood sample taken from Simon Muhangamaiso who died of suspected Ebola symptoms finally tested Positive for Crimean Congo fever. He says the Health ministry has also confirmed that who killed Muhangamaiso was not Ebola but rather Crimean Congo fever.
Dr. Gino Abiriga, the Director Wananchi Clinic explained that he paid for the license but was yet to pick it from Kampala. His pleas to the team not to close his clinic and give him time to pick the license from Kampala fell on deaf ears.
Dr. Fredrick Byenume, the Hoima District Health Inspector told Uganda Radio Network on Saturday that they have registered 47 cases in Hoima and Kikuube districts since Tuesday last week.
Dr. Turyagaruka says the suspected cases admitted at Masindi General Hospital are responding to treatment. He appealed to residents to rush patients with fever, stiff neck, vomiting and headache among other signs and symptoms to public health units for immediate attention.
