Following the creation of Obongi District whose operations start on 1 July 2019, the refugees that are being settled in Palorinya in Itula Sub-County in Moyo District by geographical location of the settlement shall now be in Obongi District.
The Sub County was carved out of Itula Sub County in June last year, has remained nonoperational to date. The delay has triggered discomfort amongst residents of the area who have since petitioned the RDC to raise the matter with the office of the president.
Obongi County Member of Parliament Hassan Fungaroo Kaps, some of the leaders in Moyo district are in fear of losing revenue from the refugee hosting Sub Counties that will then be under Obongi district.
Stephen Agaba, the Moyo District Police Commander, says they have collected sufficient evidence implicating the FDC official, adding that they have forwarded his file to the Resident State Attorney for sanctioning.
40-year-old Grace Kiden, one of the refugees says they were returning from prayers on Sunday when they received information that SPLA soldiers were canning residents while demanding for information from residents on gun shots heard in their area.
