Dr. John Recha, a Kenyan Agronomist with the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security CCAFS in East Africa, says once enforced crop quarantine will overwhelm the pest to extinction.
The grant will go towards the development of new bankable climate change adaptation and mitigation projects in view of achieving the national Climate change goals identified under the Nationally Determine Contributions NDCs.
The report warns that without urgent action to reduce emissions, the occurrence of climate shocks and stresses in the Africa region are expected to get much worse adding that there is mounting evidence that higher temperatures have worsened drought and humanitarian disaster in East Africa.
