According to Namukwaya, one of the two men armed with machetes suddenly started hacking Mugera while she yelled for help. The assailants warned to kill her if she continued to shout. She explains that the attack took less than a minute leaving Mugera in a pool of blood.
However, Sheik Muhammad Wasswa Ssemakadde, the Bukomansimbi District Khadi, attributes the ongoing killings to curses of all Ugandans who are arrested, incriminated, tortured and innocently charged due to sloppy investigations.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the attackers hit Nakato with an axe on the head and strangled her grandson to death with a rope. The duo is suspected to have been killed on Friday night because that is when they were last seen.
